This type of moulding is commonly used on walls, architectural paneling, ceilings, doors, furniture, and virtually any other architectural detail imaginable. While there are many names for specific types of panel mouldings, they are usually referred to as flat or recessed (having a notch to cap a hardwood board or plywood).
